  Jumping conversations are essential when working with complexity. When talking about complex situations, one needs to find interconnections. Therefore, there is a need to jump between the different connected places in a complex system. There is a need to facilitate jumping conversations that are inclusive and fluid. We have experience from numerous organisational workshops on how gigamaps work as mediating tools.

  The primary goal of this ongoing questionnaire is understanding the state of affairs in terms of big data utilization in Norwegian high-tech enterprises. By asking 24 questions to employees at partner organizations comprising of categories, such as Data Availability, Usability, Integrity, Competency and Organizational behavior. The survey attempted to get a nuanced understanding of the current processes at partner organizations of the H-SEIF2 consortium, or lack thereof to systematically utilize big data in their projects from the perspective of employee’s perception. For example, the survey found that the Project Managers have a more optimistic perception of their usage of big data while upper management has a more modest opinion of their current state. In addition to providing insights, the results will act as a baseline for making recommendations and propose adaptive digitalization solutions for each partner organization.

  Effective utilization of big data is still an open question for most organizations. In the presented case study, we attempted to get a nuanced understanding of the state of affairs regarding big data utilization in Norwegian high-tech industries. This case study uses research methods like questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, observations, and cocreation sessions. These methods explore the data utilization processes at partner organizations of the H-SEIF2 consortium or lack thereof to systematically utilize big data in their projects from the perspective of employee perception. The presented case study provided insights into the case study organizations. For example, organizations still heavily rely on inconsistent manual data logging and our survey found that the Project Managers have a more optimistic perception of their usage of big data. In contrast, upper management has a more modest opinion of their current state. The presented case study also provided a more in-depth analysis of challenges that hinders data utilization and identified opportunities to enhance the value of ongoing and potential digitalization initiatives at the organizations.

Design is not just about objects – it can also be a creative process that influences decisions, work methods, and people's everyday lives. Service design is often used to enhance user experiences and develop services. However, the methods within service design can also help us see the bigger picture and tackle larger issues such as crisis preparedness, climate transition, and long-term societal development.

  Offentlig sektor står overfor flere komplekse utfordringer som ikke kan håndteres med konvensjonelle fremgangsmåter. Det gjelder store samfunnsutfordringer som utenforskap, klimakrisen, samfunnssikkerhet og behov for arbeidskraft, men også mindre floker som krever transformasjon og samarbeid mellom flere aktører. Fellesnevneren er at de er unike og at det derfor ikke finnes én universell oppskrift på hvordan vi kan løse dem. De har behov for skreddersydde prosesser. Men det finnes praksiser som kan hjelpe oss, både med hvordan vi organiserer arbeidet og hvordan vi utforsker utfordringene for å skape systemiske endringer som løser opp i flokene. Systemorientert design byr på flere slike praksiser.
